FunNotch 1.3
LatestNew
- Dino Run. A second game in the notch: an endless runner with a day-to-night sky, gems to collect and a high score to beat. Breakout gets a modern look to match.
- Focus & Timer, together. One tab. Wind the dial for a focus session, or switch to a timer or a stopwatch. Your week of focus and your streak sit beside it.
- Weather that lives. The weather is now a small pixel-art landscape with drifting clouds, rain, snow, day and night.
- Claude Code and Codex, rebuilt. Sessions are read from Claude Code’s own session list, so the status is exact. The notch announces when a session starts, finishes or needs you.
- Simpler Settings and Customize windows, and a livelier volume and brightness HUD.
Fixed
- The Claude Code light could sit under the camera when widgets were showing. The collapsed notch now always stays centered on the camera.
- The Game tab was hidden under the camera. Tabs now always fit beside it.
- In-app updates to 1.1 and 1.2 failed with “The update is improperly signed.” Updates are signed correctly from here on. If you are on 1.1 or 1.2, download 1.3 once by hand.
- Dino Run skipped its milestone chime when a gem bonus carried the score past a hundred.
- Calendar countdowns say “in 2h” instead of “in 2h 0m.”
- Widgets can be dragged to the bin in Customize however they are dragged.
FunNotch 1.2
- A home screen you compose. Home is now a grid you arrange yourself in an editor: drag widgets in, resize them and save layouts.
- Layouts for different moments. Give a case its own screen, such as when media is playing, before a meeting, during a focus session or while charging.
- A floating island without a notch. On an external display or a Mac with no notch, FunNotch draws a rounded island in the same place.
- A redrawn battery meter with a plug and charging bolts, smooth instead of pixel art.
- Gestures and three Appearance sections were removed to keep Settings simple.
FunNotch 1.1
- Automatic updates. FunNotch checks for new versions and installs them in the app.
- A Notes tab. A scratchpad that starts a new note each day.
- A Timer tab with countdowns and a stopwatch with laps.
- Pixel weather on Home. When nothing is playing, the panel shows the forecast as an animated pixel scene.
- Clipboard expiry. Clipboard entries can clear themselves after a set time.
- A customizable home strip, app launchers, a retro battery meter and retro styling for Breakout.
FunNotch 1.0.1
- Fixed: media keys could stop working entirely on Macs without a backlit keyboard. Keys FunNotch cannot handle are now passed to macOS untouched.
- Fixed: five places that could crash at launch on an unusual Mac.
- New: an empty agenda can fill itself with clearly badged sample events, off unless you ask for it.
- Changed: better defaults on a fresh install, including the HUD on and a 50-item clipboard.
- Improved: volume keys do a fifth of the work, and the diagnostic log no longer grows forever.
FunNotch 1.0
The first public build. Everything below shipped at once.
- Media: now playing from Music, Spotify and any browser, with artwork, a live spectrum and a progress bar you can drag to seek.
- Shelf: a drag-and-drop file shelf that opens to meet a drag, with AirDrop and sharing. It catches new screenshots and finished downloads on its own.
- Clipboard and focus: searchable, pinnable clipboard history, and a focus timer that blocks websites and apps with Pomodoro cycles.
- At a glance: configurable widgets either side of the camera, calendar events and reminders, and join links pulled out of meeting invites.
- System: a HUD for volume, brightness and keyboard backlight that replaces the system one, a camera mirror, custom themes and a diagnostics screen.
- And: Notch Breakout, a small game that pauses when you close the notch.
Keep up with releases.
FunNotch updates itself in the app, so you rarely need this page. Every release, with its downloads and full commit history, is on GitHub releases, which also offers an Atom feed.
