The three moments worth seeing.

FunNotch announces a session when it starts working, when it finishes, and when it stops to ask you something. A waiting session says why in plain words: it needs your permission, needs sandbox access, is waiting on a dialog, or needs your input.

A finish is held back for a moment before it is announced. Claude Code can drop to idle between two steps of the same job, and announcing that would be a false alarm.
Every session, on Home.

The Agents tile on Home lists your sessions by name, with waiting sessions first, then working ones, then the most recently finished. Each shows a running clock. Click a session and FunNotch brings its window forward, whether it lives in Terminal, iTerm, Ghostty or VS Code. With the notch closed, a small status light beside the camera shows whether anything is running or waiting.
Exact, and private.
FunNotch reads the same session registry that Claude Code’s own session list reads: one small file per running session with its name, folder and status. That makes the status exact instead of a guess from file activity. Nothing is read from your conversations.
Codex has no registry, so its status is inferred: a session counts as working while its rollout file is being written, and as finished once it has gone quiet. Only file names and dates are used.
All of this happens on your Mac. FunNotch sends nothing about your sessions anywhere, and the code that does it is public.
Common questions.
Does FunNotch need a plugin or hook in Claude Code?
No. It reads the session registry Claude Code already keeps on your Mac, so there is nothing to install or configure in Claude Code.
Does it read my prompts or code?
No. For Claude Code it reads each session’s name, folder and status. For Codex it uses file names and dates. Conversation contents are never read.
Which version added this?
Agent tracking was rebuilt in FunNotch 1.3, released on September 27, 2026. See what’s new.
Does it work with other coding agents?
Claude Code and Codex are supported today. FunNotch is not affiliated with Anthropic or OpenAI.
