Start in two seconds.

The FunNotch Focus tab ready to start: a dial set to 30 minutes, presets for 15, 25, 45, 60 and 90 minutes, a Block sites toggle, a Pomodoro option and a chart of the week.
Ready to focus. Wind the dial or pick a preset.

Open the Focus tab, wind the dial to the length you want or tap a preset for 15, 25, 45, 60 or 90 minutes, and press Start. While the session runs you can add five minutes or end it early. With the notch closed, the remaining time stays visible beside the camera.

Blocking that works without a system extension.

A running FunNotch focus session with 16:15 left, the note “3 tabs sent back,” buttons to add 5 minutes or end, and the week chart beside it.
A running session. Three tabs have been sent back so far.

Turn on Block sites and FunNotch watches your browsers during a session. Any tab on your blocklist is sent to a local “blocked” page, and apps on your blocklist are hidden. It works in Safari, Chrome, Brave, Edge and Arc.

This approach needs no administrator password, no changes to system files and no network filter. It needs the Automation permission, so macOS will ask the first time.

Pomodoro, a week chart and a streak.

  • Pomodoro cycles. Switch on Pomodoro and each work stretch is followed by a break. You can cut a break short and go straight back to work.
  • Your week. A chart shows the last seven days of focus, with today’s total and the week’s total.
  • A streak. Days in a row with focus time. Today only counts once you have focused, so the streak does not look broken first thing in the morning.
  • Shortcuts. Name a shortcut to run when a session starts and another for when it ends, which is the practical way to switch a macOS Focus mode on and off.

A timer and a stopwatch in the same tab.

The FunNotch Timer running with 6:12 left of a 10 minute countdown, Pause and Cancel buttons, and a list of recent timers.
The same dial runs countdowns and a stopwatch with laps.

The Focus tab also holds a countdown timer with recent durations and a stopwatch with laps, so the kettle and the work session live in one place.

Common questions.

Can FunNotch block websites on a Mac for free?

Yes. During a focus session it sends blocklisted tabs in Safari, Chrome, Brave, Edge and Arc to a local blocked page. The app is free and open source.

Does it block apps as well as websites?

Yes. Apps on your blocklist are hidden while a session runs.

Does it support the Pomodoro technique?

Yes. Turn on Pomodoro cycles and work stretches alternate with breaks, with the cycle count kept for you.

Where is my focus history stored?

On your Mac. FunNotch keeps a little over a year of daily totals locally and sends nothing anywhere.
