It opens to meet your drag.

You do not have to open anything first. Start dragging a file and the notch widens into a drop zone, so the shelf is ready before you let go. Files, images and selected text can all be dropped.
Everything you parked, in one row.

- Drag out anywhere. Pick an item up from the shelf and drop it into any app, folder or upload field.
- AirDrop and share. Send the selection, or the whole shelf, straight to AirDrop or the macOS share sheet.
- Rename in place. The underlying file is renamed, so the new name survives a drag back out.
- Copy text out of an image. FunNotch reads the text in a screenshot or photo on your Mac and puts it on the clipboard. Nothing is uploaded.
- Copy a path. Grab the full path or the file name for a terminal or an editor.
- File it away. Copy or move an item into one of the folders you set up.
It can fill itself.
Two optional switches make the shelf collect things for you: new screenshots are put on the shelf as you take them, and finished downloads land there too. Items can also clear themselves after a number of hours if you want a shelf that stays tidy.
Common questions.
Are my files uploaded anywhere?
No. The shelf holds references to files on your Mac, plus local copies of dragged text and web images. Reading text from an image happens on-device.
What happens to shelf items when I restart?
The shelf is restored. If a file was moved or deleted in the meantime, FunNotch tells you which item went missing instead of silently dropping it.
Does the shelf work without a notch?
Yes. On an external display or a Mac without a notch, FunNotch draws a floating island in the same place and the shelf works the same way.
